I am considering construction of a large steel/metal building with the idea of constructing a home on one end and using the other end for a garage and workshop. There are lots of sites on steel homes but not for exactly what your talking about. Are you building this yourself? If so, draw up your plans, buy the kit, and go at it.
Try mortonbuildings.com They have a section on homes. You might be able to get some ideas on how to start. Don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild. (Mine does) I started with a 60 x 100 foot building. Built a fire brake wall forty foot from one end, and built a nice two story living area. That left a 60 x 60 area for wood working, hot rods, and whatever else comes along.
