I would be constructing it myself with whichever I choose. I would like it to be built from wood, not steel (not a steel pole barn). Which is the cheapest way to go?

A Question for Builders or practical people?
What is your opinion about ‘Steel kit homes’ versus already built properties? EG..Electricity and plumbing..also we would have solar panels and water tanks as we live in a hot, tropical environment and would have advanced well-placed trees for insulation. We have to buy the land then build upon it….What do you all see as the pros and cons of this? Thank you.(I know there are plenty of cons..telephone,council approval, site, soil etc..but still wondering..is it really cheaper or worth the trouble..we are used to living rough .)
Small Survival kit in a Altoid can?
For my environmental awareness class we a building a small survival kit in a altoid can. we need things for fire, water purification, shelter, emotional stability and what not

Pricing on metal prefab steel buildings?
I am looking into making a prefab (kit) metal building around 300ft x 100ft. I can’t seem to get the right pricing for a kit without talking to a sales rep bugging the heck out of me and telling me all about their "special deals". All I want to know is a ballpark figure on how much your average building like this will cost? I know this is a loaded question. But any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Steel and leather, restoring an old razor kit?
I’ve recently come into possession of a vintage razor kit, dated to the late twenties or early thirties. The razor includes two permanent blades (rather than disposable) of hollow-ground Sheffield steel as well as a built-in strop/hone.
The problems are these: One of the blades is chipped, both are lightly rusted/corroded. The strop is also in a sorry state, being dented (if that’s the right word with leather) and otherwise damaged.
For more info/pictures see the thread I created here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=93629
I’m looking for advice on how to restore this (or get this restored). Both the blades and the strop.
I’m resorting to posting this in multiple categories because there doesn’t seem to be a single one that suits.
Thank you for your interest.
Thank you both for your answers, I’ve found everything quite helpful so far.
As a point of interest, I have discovered that the hone is not missing. Rather, the strop slides out on a plate on the other side of which is the hone. I had some trouble in figuring out how to get the strop out at first, but it turns out to be quite simple.
where can i find a website with information about steel framed house kits?
they’re these kits that you buy and then build and they are the frames for houses but they are made of steel
How do I make a wooden gate, and how do I attach it to steel posts?
We are in the midst of building a wooden fence with galvanized steel posts instead of wooden posts. We have no idea how to build a gate for it. And it has been really hard to find anything on the internet showing/explaining how to build a gate if you are attaching it to steel posts. I bought a gate hardware kit and that doesn’t even have instructions! How do I do this? Or where should I start?
